All Saints Cathedral, Nagpur, consecrated in 1871, is one of Central India’s most prominent and historic places of worship. Beyond regular worship services, it hosts major liturgical celebrations, choral performances, organ recitals, and large congregational gatherings, making clear communication and musical balance central to its spiritual and community life.
Without a unified audio design, the cathedral’s system had evolved through stop‑gap additions, leading to uneven nave coverage, poor speech intelligibility in a highly reverberant space, inconsistent musical clarity, excessive volume for front‑row congregants, audibility issues toward the rear, and a growing reliance on hired sound systems during large gatherings.
Recognising the need for a long‑term solution, the cathedral partnered with Thasor Musicals and the Yamaha team to implement an acoustically sympathetic system, supplied, installed and tuned by Deon Solomon Doss of Thasor Musicals, Nagercoil.
Guided by years of experience working in complex acoustic environments, Yamaha tailored an audio solution that enriches the cathedral’s sound environment while respecting its historic identity.
To restore balance and intelligibility throughout the cathedral, a purpose built NEXO–Yamaha audio system was carefully engineered and installed. The main nave is now covered by NEXO ID84 loudspeakers, selected for their ability to deliver controlled, long throw performance in highly reverberant spaces. ID24 and ID14 units extend consistent coverage into the delay zones and side wings, ensuring every section of the congregation receives the same high-quality sound. Low frequency reinforcement is delivered through Yamaha CXS18XLF subwoofers, complemented by CHR12M monitors for choirs and musical services. Powered by NXAMPMK2 and NANONXAMP4 processing, the entire system operates with precision, stability, and tonal cohesion—making it exceptionally well-suited to a heritage structure of this scale.
With this system in place, the cathedral now offers a refined acoustic environment that not only complements its architectural grandeur but also elevates the articulation and musical warmth of every service. This uplifted sonic experience reinforces its spiritual mission, enabling worship, music, and community gatherings to resonate with purpose and precision for years to come.
Testimonials:
“The installation of the new Yamaha Audio System has transformed our listening experience. The Yamaha speakers, microphones, and mixers work together seamlessly to deliver clear, consistent audio all the way to the back rows. Even the softest voices are captured and amplified with remarkable precision, making every session effortless to follow. A truly excellent system, perfectly installed and managed." - Hansraj Jain
“All Saints Cathedral’s highly reverberant acoustics long made amplified speech unclear despite many system upgrades. The Yamaha–NEXO ID Series finally solved this challenge: ID84 mains, ID24 delays, and ID14 organ support over Dante, finely tuned with SMAART 9. The result is outstanding clarity—intelligible speech, rich choir vocals, and balanced organ and percussion. Yamaha’s NEXO solution has brought true harmony between the cathedral’s acoustics and its sound system.” - Vishal Gaikwad, Audio & Mixing Engineer
