Adam Audio, known for its high-end studio monitors; puts its know-how to use with a related product: its H715 Reference open-back headphones.
Intended to provide a listening experience akin loudspeaker monitoring, the H715 Reference headphones use custom-designed 150-Ohm titanium-plated PEN drivers housed within a woven steel mesh enclosure. The transducer assembly is supplemented by neodymium magnets, a tuned suspension system and a patent-pending ventilation design.
Other features include a breathable steel grille, dual-sided connectivity, magnetically detachable earpads and memory foam cushioning. Rotatable earcups adapt to the shape of the listener’s head to distribute pressure evenly around the ear. In addition, the spring-steel headband padding incorporates a central cutout that relieves pressure on the skull’s crown area.
The H715s come with a Sonnox calibration suite of software tools. Originally introduced alongside the closed-back H200, the Headphone Utility Plug-In has been expanded to include a range of H715-specific calibration profiles as well as user-adjustable crossfeed functionality. The H715 Reference also includes ListenHub, an audio analysis, comparison and virtual monitoring platform.
For users who don’t need to mix and master, the H715 Reference sports an on-board Hi-Fi mode for leisure listening. The mode can be activated via a small switch on the headphone that separates the common ground connection, allowing the headphones to be connected directly to the balanced headphone outputs of Hi-Fi equipment using the included 3-meter cable with a 4.4 mm Pentaconn connector.
The H715 Reference can lie completely flat for transport and is supplied in a premium hardshell travel case along with a 1.3 m coiled studio cable, 3 m Hi-Fi cable, and magnetically attachable soft-cloth and faux-leather earpads.
