The Tata IPL 2024 was unveiled as a grand spectacle at Ma Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, offering audiences an eclectic mix of nail-biting cricket and foot-tapping musical performances. Hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the tournament features ten teams and runs until 26 May 2024.
The opening ceremony featured performances by popular artists and actors including A.R. Rahman, Sonu Nigam, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff and DJ Axwell from Swedish House Mafia.
At the opening ceremony, an elaborate setup was created to deliver the audio and lighting coverage throughout the duration. The audio inventory comprised of a blend of equipment, including 36 d&b KSL speakers, 16 XSL speakers, and 16 SL-Subs. Complementing these were 24 Meyer Sound 700 HP subs, 16 MSL4 speakers, 6 MJF 212A speakers, along with 2 UPM-1P's and 2 UP-Junior's dedicated to near-field monitoring. These were managed by Digico SD10 and SD5 consoles connected via redundant Optocore loops.
At the curtain-raiser of the much awaited Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) on 22nd March, Reynold's took centre stage, and played a vital role in supplying the audio and lighting equipment for this year's Tata IPL opening ceremony.
Tata IPL's opening ceremony was lit up with 800 Montana LED PAR fixtures, 100 Montana LED battens, 200 PR Lighting moving head beams, 200 ADJ X12 fixtures, 60 Claypaky Sharpy X Frame fixtures and more.
The lighting arsenal featured an array of fixtures, including 800 Montana LED PAR fixtures, 100 Montana LED battens, 200 PR Lighting moving head beams, 200 ADJ X12 fixtures, 60 Claypaky Sharpy X Frame fixtures, 36 PR Lighting AQUQ 480 BSW fixtures, 120 Silver Star Cyan 6000 XE fixtures, 48 EK Collider Strobes, 36 Robe Esprite fixtures, 20 EK diamond back moving battens and 4 Emlite follow spots. These were controlled by MA3 consoles, supported by MA2 NPU units, MA3 nodes, MA splitters, Elation Artnet controllers, Cisco switches, Netgear switches and fibre optics cables.
The technology supplied by Reynold's played a crucial role in ensuring synchronity across both audio and lighting systems, making use of Dante AoIP protocol for audio signal distribution and ArtNet for lighting control. The use of fibre optic cables sourced from Van Damme Cables with custom-built patch bays, set new benchmark in performance standards and the deployment of Shure Axient wireless mics, Shure and Sennheiser in-ear monitors and communication systems from Hollyland enabled seamless communication among performers and crew.
